| President's Monthly Message | |
November 2011 I am so proud of our club. I don't remember a time when we had so many projects in one month and we came through with shining colors for them all. It appears we made $2,100 on the e-waste collection, despite the terrible weather; realized $1,500 from the Pancake 5K; and along with Camden, West Bay, Rockland, and Midcoast Interact clubs raised $10,000 for the End Polio Now initiative, with our club chipping in $2,100. We couldn't have done any better! Thanks to Doug for heading up the e-waste collection; Su for taking the reins for the Pancake 5K; and Art for going the extra mile for the multi-club walk. And thanks as well to everyone who helped us achieve such excellent results with all three October projects. But now I have to ask you to help again. First is this Sunday's pancake breakfast, which helps keep the local food cupboards serving those in need. Second, we need to raise the funds to meet the challenge grant we have been offered for the 100 Fund. We have to come up with $3,500 and we can get more than half of that if we can pre-sell 100 Christmas trees. I have heard about the horror stories of the past but I believe we can do this, especially since it will meet we can fund the 100 Fund. That project is near and dear to my heart and I would hate for us to have to let any children down because we didn't make or donate the money. Andrea Walker, President
